WW1 Memorial Death Plaque - Bertram (Bert) Jay, 10th Battalion Kings Royal Rifle Corps (KRRC) Somme Casualty (unique plaque)

Full size original plaque or Dead Man's Penny, named to Bertram Jay. Wide H in "He" variety with the "W" for Woolwich Arsenal on the reverse. Has been heavily polished and has lost a lot of detail. MIC confirms his Christian name as Bertram even though the CWGC site has his name as Bert.

This is a unique issue plaque. The CWGC gives 'Bert's' details (sic) as R/152 Private in the 10th Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps (KRRC) who died on the 29th August 1916, presumably during the Battle of the Somme and he is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial as he has no known grave.

The MIC card confirms KIA 5th July 1916 and he entered the France & Flanders Theatre (1) on the 21st July 1915. As such he is noted as being entitled to a 1914-15 Trio.

Copy of online MIC and CWGC certificate for Bertram/Bert Jay to be provided.

On account of the weight, will only post this item to a UK address.
