2nd Dragoon Guards (Queen's Bays) QVC Victorian Other Ranks Large Pattern Brass Button

Circa 25mm in diameter, floating shank, maker marked Firmin & Sons Ld, London. Some polishing to highpoints otherwise in very good condition. Scarce.

This pattern is shown in Ripley with a King's crown only as worn from 1902. The earlier pattern (his item 17) is of a different design, but he claims worn until 1902. So I am not sure from what point this button was actually worn, but given the QVC crown it must also be pre 1902. Any information welcome.

Ripley No 18 refers (but K/C).
