Victorian Suffolk Regiment Brass Metal Side Cap Badge, Regular Battalions
This, together with the item listed below, is a real oddity. It appears to be an Other Ranks HPC device die struck in white metal with two original lugs to the reverse. It is not a collar badge as far as I can determine (not listed in Churchill) so I can only presume they are NCO issue for wear in the side or forage cap. Circa 3cm in wide and 2.9cm tall with two original loops to the reverse. Gilt bright and in very good condition. Commemorates the regiment's back to back action at Alexandria in 1801.

An earlier pattern badge with two original lugs to the reverse and six expansion / braising / sweat holes to the reverse. A great badge with sharp detail, some twisting to lugs. Circa 4.2cm tall. Evidence of feet to base of one lug, which just goes to show that as with all rules there are exceptions as this is a period badge with period and original lugs.

White metal rose to the centre of a gilding metal crowned Garter Strap above a small white horse, all on a fused grenade with Victorian crown above. With 2 dark toned loops to the reverse.
