Official issues for wear by officers and other ranks had the 7 separate from the crossed kukris. This particular example was believed to be a pattern worn by followers or servants of the regiment. Whilst a number of different examples appear in the museum publication, this particular pattern does not appear to be illustrated. Black cord boss with silver plated cast metal device, as worn from 1916 - 1953. Boss circa 26mm in diameter, badge circa16mm across. Retaining wires twisted downwards. In good condition.

5th Gurkha Rifles Officer's Black Ball Button, 1927 - 1947
Circa 18mm in diameter, fixed shank, blank reverse. Black composition button. This pattern with Royal Crest above came into service in 1927 and was worn until 1947. In very good condition.
