Scarce Royal Irish Fusiliers (Princess Victoria's) gilding metal other rank's collar devices / badges ( worn 1882 - 1888 only)

The monogram of Princess Victoria (PV) together with her coronet under an Egyptian sphinx and a blank tablet (blank as manufacturer's found the device too small to include the word "Egypt). These were the forerunners of the large white metal coronet introduced in 1888. These monograms were worn on the collar with a grenade collar badge flanking it on either side. They were worn with the sphinx's facing inwards. In great condition, these are a matched facing pair with two original lugs to each. Circa 2.5cm tall. Scarce.

To full appreciate how these were worn, refer to Churchill, page 283.

Churchill Ref No 1767 and 1768 refer.
