Scarce 1914 1st Pattern Tyneside Scottish Other Rank's Glengarry Cap Badge

The design for this badge was not fixed until late November 1914 by the Tyneside Scottish Committee, and was replaced by the more imposing 2nd pattern badge in January 1915. Many of the original cap badges were converted to pin fittings. They were issued to the original volunteers to the 20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd Battalion Tyneside Scottish quartered in Alnwick, Northumberland.

This is a good die-stamped circular example. Loops neatly removed and expertly converted to brooch pin fitting. Circa 43 x 35mm.
