Victorian King's Shropshire Light Infantry ( KSLI ) Pair of Facing Gilding Metal Other Rank's Collar Badges, 1881 - 1887

A facing pair of die struck gilding metal collar badges with two original lugs to the reverse of each. Not an exact match on account of a slight colour variation, but in all other respects a good match. According to the Museum, as cited by Churchill, they were unpopular with the Regiment and only worn for one year, 1881 - 1882, even though the pattern that replaced them was not sealed until 1887. Who can say, whether worn for one year, or five years, in either event they are scarce.

Churchill no 1417 refers.
