Victorian King's Shropshire Light Infantry ( KSLI ) Facing Pair of Water Gilt Senior NCO's Collar Badges, 1881 - 1887

A facing pair of Warrant Officers / 1st Class Sergeants die struck water gilt collar badges with two original lugs to the reverse of each, the foot of one lug has lifted from the badge but still functional. Not an exact match on account of a slight colour variation, gilt now dulled, but in all other respects a good match. According to the Museum, as cited by Churchill, they were unpopular with the Regiment and only worn for one year, 1881 - 1882, even though the pattern that replaced them was not sealed until 1887. Who can say, whether worn for one year, or five years, in either event they are scarce, especially to a senior NCO.

Churchill no 1417 refers.
