Victorian King 's Shropshire Light Infantry ( KSLI ) Left Facing Bronze Metal Collar Badge, 1881 - 1887

A left facing die struck bronze metal collar badge with two original lugs to the reverse of each. According to the Museum, as cited by Churchill, they were unpopular with the Regiment and only worn for one year, 1881 - 1882, even though the pattern that replaced them was not sealed until 1887. Who can say, whether worn for one year, or five years, in either event they are scarce. This one is unusual in as much as it is made in bronze rather than brass.

Churchill no 1417 refers.
