King Edwards Horse ( The Kings Oversea Dominions Regiment ) Yeomanry Brass Cap Badge - Rare Ausumus spelling

The rare version mispelling "Adsumus" in the motto srcoll with "Ausumus". In brass guilding metal with original slider. Circa 5.8cm tall. Rare.

During WW1 the Reigment was broken up, serving in France and Italy in a variety of roles. Some of the men became mounted orderlies and the KODR became 'King's Own Despatch Riders" to the jeers of the infantry.

K&K Vol 1 No 1508 refers (although somewhat amusingly, in the text K&K are also guilty of mispelling "Adsumus" as "Adsumas" and then mispell the mispelling "Ausumus" as "Ausumas" - hope you're keeping up!).

This unit was 50th in the order of precedence of yeomanry regiments. First raised in 1901.
