Rare WW2 'South American' Free French Gallic Cockerel Crowing Enemal Lapel Badge

A most unusual WW2 small sized enamel lapel badge with original brooch pin fitting and indistinct makers details to the reverse. The Gallic Cockerel in red white and blue enamel with the Cross of Lorraine to its chest. Circa 2.5cms tall.

This Free French cockerel lapel badge was made in South America (possibly Argentina) for the civilian Free French Committees of Sao-Paulo and /or Rio in Brazil.

The Free French Committee of Brazil was forbidden and tracked by the Brazilian police. When Brazil finally joined the United Nations, the committee situation was regularised and became legal.

My grateful thanks to Jean-Francois for the information provided above.
