WW2 1st Pattern Northern Command Printed Formation Sign

A green apple on a dark blue diamond. Removed from uniform and good condition with some wear to either to the points. Quite a hard one to come by.

This pattern was worn until the end of 1946 and was then superseded by the red cross on the black shield with the five gold or yellow lions (see my item 60934). The apple was chosen for the 1st pattern as a biblical reference to Adam's apple, as the first CO of the wartime command was General Sir Ronald Adam.

Davis No 4 refers.
