WW2 59th (Staffordshire) Division Embroidered Cloth Formation Sign

Removed from uniform, a 2nd line TA formation composed mainly of Staffordshire Territorials. A red pit-head against a black slag heap all on a blue felt background. In good overall condition.

Comprised of Staffordshire Territorial units and joined 21st Army Group for the Invasion of Europe. Served as part of the 21st Army Group during the early stages of the Battle of Normandy a few weeks after the D-Day landings, and following heavy fighting in the advance to take the City of Caen, the Division virtually ceased to exist.
