WW1 Motor Volunteer Corps (MVC) Officers Silver Plated Button

A very rare silver plated officer's button, circa 25mm in diameter with a strong fixed shank and maker marked I & B Pearce & Co, who were a small London based firm. In superb condition.

The Motor Volunteer Corps existed for 3 March 1903 until it was officially disbanded on the 26th July 1906.

Their Latin motto "Subito" means Suddenly. The corps was a small unit of "gentlemen-motorist" owner volunteers and their chaffeurs who provided transport for General Officers, their staff and umpires on manoeuvres, etc. The corps high point was the 1905 Royal Review at Holyrood, Scotland, where the ten car Scottish section took part.
