Interwar & WW2 Papers and Books relating to Sergeant H Childs, Durham Light Infantry (DLI) - 1st, 2nd and 6th Battalions

A regular soldier who joined the Colours in 1925, 4264037 Pte Henry Childs initially joined the 1st Battalion then stationed in Ireland. Prior to this he had served briefly in the 5th TF Bn Northumberland Fusiliers. During the interwar period he saw service with the 2nd Battalion DLI in Shanghai, China, India including active service on NWF. When war was declared with Germany, he reported to the DLI Depot in Newcastle-upon-Tyne on 1st September 1939, and then moved to the Depot at Brancepeth Castle, drafted into the 6th Battalion DLI. Promoted to Sergeant in 1942. Paybook confirms entitled to a IGS medal with clasp NWF 1930 - 1931, and for WW2 service: 1939 -1945 Star, Africa Star with 8th Army Clasp, Italy Star and France & Germany Star. No doubt also entitled to a War and Defence Medal.
The medals are sadly not with the paperwork but it would be great to join them up again. The lot contains his paybook recording WW2 service, a diary for 1925, his Class A Release Book and a hard copy of the Standing Orders for the 1st and 2nd Battalions dated 1920. In the front of this he has added notes of his pre WW2 service. Worthy of additional research.

Please note on account of weight of this lot I will only post to a UK address.
