Indian Army - South Waziristan Scouts Silver Cap Badge - Maker Marked Barton
King's crown silver cap badge with two squeezed in loops with makers details for " Barton" and a " Silver " stamp to the reverse. The crowned 3D head of a mountain goat above the tri-part title scroll, " South Waziristan Scouts". Silver dark toned and apart from the nipped in loops in very good condition with sharp detail. Circa 40mm tall. Rare.
Interestingly, the badge looks like a frog when viewed from the rear!.
The South Waziristan Scouts, formerly the South Waziristan Militia, was a paramilitary unit which formed part of British India's Frontier Corps. Other units included the Chitral Scouts, the Gilgit Scouts and the Kurram and Zhob Militias.
