This is a woven silk formation sign badge to the 32nd (7th City of London) Searchlight Regiment R.A. In excellent unissued condition. The badge was made by “Brough, Nicholson & Hall” of Leek Staffordshire.

The regiment had the distinction of being the first searchlight unit to bring down an enemy plane on British soil when, in 1940, a Dornier crashed in Suffolk as a result of being dazzled by one the Regiment's searchlights!

Reconstituted in 1947 as the 567th searchlight regiment, Royal Artillery (7th City of London) (TA). This is most probably the post war example.
