The Essex Yeomanry Officer's OSD Bronze Collar Badge - Gaunt Tablet

Die Cast in Bronze with two original D shaped loops and maker's tablet JR Gaunt / London to reverse of King's crown. This pattern was sealed in 1906, but the bronze OSD issues did not appear until post 1908. It is 33mm tall and 22mm wide. The motto is 'Audacter Et Sincere' ('Boldly and Truly').

Wood speculates this badge could have been worn interchangeably as both a cap and collar, as the bladed version of the OSD cap badge, according to Wood (p17) was not introduced until 1915. However, this item is being offered for sale here as a collar badge not a cap badge.
