A rare WWI bronzed brass cap badge with two flat lugs to the reverse. The Lion and pennant flanked by the letters, ' N Z ' to the centre of a crowned wreath of fern above the scroll, ' Expedy Forces '. This particular design / pattern does not appear in Oldham's (2011 Edn), Corbett's (1980 Edn) nor in Lowe (1987 Edn). Rare.

WW1 New Zealand Engineers ( NZE ) Tunnelling Company Cap Badge
King's crown cap badge with two loops to the reverse, 30mm in diameter (almost 1 1/4 inches), with two original lugs to the reverse. This is the larger pattern of this badge as worn by the tunnellers in WW1. It looks more bronze than brass. There was a bronze and a brass version. Scarce.

The cap badge is die struck brass with two hexagonal lugs to the reverse with registered design number RD 887 to the front below the letters NZ. Circa 4.8cm tall. The collar badge die struck brass (now dark toned) with two loops to the reverse. Circa 3.2cm tall.

WW1 New Zealand Expeditionary Force - 31st Reinforcements Brass Cap and Single Collar Badge Set
The cap badge in semi die struck thick brass with a crudely applied slider with registered design number RD 970 to the front and to the left of the numerals 31. It does not appear to have ever had lugs. Circa 4.3cm tall. The collar badge die struck brass with two diagonal lugs to the reverse and RD and 970 to the front to either side of the scroll furls. Circa 3cm tall.

Circa 4.3cm tall, with two original blades to the reverse. In very good condition but with a maker's tablet to the reverse of the crown, which has verdigris on it which makes it hard to read but it is "Firmin London". This is the rare laurel eave pattern. Scarce WW1 24th New Zealand Reinforcements to the 1st New Zealand Expeditionary Force Bronze Collar Badge
Give the dog a bone! "Holdfast" being the motto - and don't let it go. Somebody had a good sense of humour in designing this badge. With two original hexagonal lugs (as typical of this series). Good sharp detail Circa 2.1cm tall and 2.8cm wide. Again the cap badge is a different design to this collar badge.
