A scarce one to find, With original pin and clasp. In good bright condition. The enamel is complete but over applied as it as slightly swamped out the lettering. Circa 3.9cm tall. This is a not a converted cap or collar badge.

2nd Life Guards GV Other Ranks Bronze Cap Badge

An early WW1 GV pattern cap badge worn from 1913 onwards with original slider to the reverse (a W or M scratched on to it). A good striking, almost mint. Scarce.

The First and Second Life Guards were amalgamated in 1922 to form The Life Guards ( 1st & 2nd ).

Two original pictures removed from album, one with heavy crease mark, noted on reverse in a contemporary hand to be of Guardsman Stephen E. Cornish 21844 1st battalion Grenadier Guards who died 25th January 1916. He is also commemorated in the Australian war memorial and left an Australian widow. A fine example with two original screw posts to the reverse (retaining nuts no longer present). A different pattern to the large pattern forage cap star, note the shape of the rays (see final photo for a comparison with the large pattern cap star listed elsewhere on this site for sale). Coldstream Guards Officer's Large Hallmarked Silver with Enamel Cap Star

A large three part construction cap star, die cast and maker marked JRG (JR Gaunt) with Birmingham assay silver hallmarks for 1970 (date letter V) with enamel to strap and centre cross in very good condition. Two original long silvered loops to reverse. Silver finish dark toned, slight service wear. An example with a bit of age to it (now over 50 years!). Circa 5.4cms tall.
