A die struck white metal cap badge with two original dark toned loops to the reverse. The motto " Quocunque Jeceris Stabit " which is rather appropriate given the three legged device to the centre and translates as " whichever way you throw him he will stand ". QVC Victorian 49th Middlesex Rifles Volunteers (Post Office Rifles) Black Composite Large Pattern Button
Circa 25mm in diameter, fixed shank and maker marked Herbert & Co, London. Some service wear / nibbles to edges otherwise a scarce button. It was worn post 1880 but with a change of the number to '24' in place of '49' on the circlet. The design was as for that of the pouch badge (see MHS Bulletin Vol VI No 24 May 1956, p89, Figs 97and 98 refer). Rare.

First 1st Royal Surrey Militia White Metal Glengarry Badge, circa 1874 - 1881
Awarded the precedence 20 in 1855, the 1st Royal Surrey Regiment of Militia became the 3rd Battalion, the East Surrey Regiment in 1881. Circa 6.5cm tall with two original lugs to the reverse. Roman numerals XX for 20. Some misshaping to orb at top of crown otherwise in good condition with only minor wear to the silver plate on the highpoints.

76th Regiment of Foot (2nd Battalion Duke of Wellingtons (West Riding) Regiment) Officers Gilt Large Pattern Button
An coatee early pattern without the rim, circa 20mm in diameter with fixed shank, maker marked Jennens & Co London. Gilt a bit dulled and rubbed but detail very sharp. Roman numerals LXXVI below an elephant with houdah and a laurel spray below, surmounted by a Georgian / Victorian Crown and with the battle houours Hindoustan and Peninsula to either side respectively. Circa 1830 - 1855.
