Circa 25mm in diameter, fixed shank and maker marked Herbert & Co, London. Some service wear / nibbles to edges otherwise a scarce button. It was worn post 1880 but with a change of the number to '24' in place of '49' on the circlet. A silk embroidered example with a black canvas backing. In very good condition. A yellow cross of St David of Wales with the red rose of Lancaster superimposed on the centre, all within a red circle on a black background. The red and black were Army HQ colours.

Removed from uniform. khaki disk with early looking hessian backing. Five leaves on each side (for 55th) with red rose of Lancashire. This was a First-Line Territorial Division, composed of Territorial s from the Liverpool and West Lancashire area, and as part of the Home Forces the division was used in a training role.
