a large fire gilt ammunition pouch badge with red felt backing cut to shape and with all three blades present to the reverse. Gilt bright (a few minor blemishes and minor wear to highpoints) with no damage and all the fiddly bits present and correct. Circa 11cm wide and 7cm tall.

Removed from uniform. The paper packing cloth is unusual in that it reveals the makers name, 'Gwendyr Make' which suggests a Welsh manufacturer. A search on line shows they made items high quality embroidered items for the US forces stationed in the UK during WW2 and well as items for the Royal Navy and RAF both during and after WW2. Slight nip to top edge, but in unissued condition complete with original black paper backing. Light blue thread detailing to the red pinion (wing) on a dark blue rectangle. Adopted in late 1940, and comprised of infantry battalions from the Scots, Irish and Welsh Guards.
