Victorian Kings Shropshire Light Infantry ( KSLI ) Pair of Facing Brass Metal Other Rank's Collar Badges, 1881 - 1887

A facing pair of die struck brass metal collar badges with two original lugs to the reverse of each. Not an exact match on account of a colour variation, one is more bronzy in colour, but in all other respects a good match. According to the Museum, as cited by Churchill, they were unpopular with the Regiment and only worn for one year, 1881 - 1882, even though the pattern that replaced them was...  read more

Taunton ( Somerset ) Volunteers Tunic Button, circa 1794 - 1802 ( Revolutionary / Napoleonic Wars)

Scarce, circa 22mm in diameter. Flat button with shank still in tact but fragile and with one crack. Excavated condition, but better than one usually finds. Some small splits, copper, would originally have been gilt washed. Worn circa 1794 - 1802. Detail in part is feint and it is hard to read the motto strap below the crown and my thanks to Kevin for confirming that from an example known...  read more
