WW2 Royal Air Force ( RAF) Matched Facing Pair of Sergeants Chevrons - stamped 1943

Note the chevrons travel in different directions so facing as well as matched. Each of three chevrons rank insignia embroidered on a canvas material with issue stamps for 1943 to the reverse, one more legible than the other. In very good condition.

In good condition with two original loops to the reverse. Circa 33mm wide. This is smaller than the other ranks pattern by 2mm in width and better made and of a thicker metal quality. See figure 104 in Hostilities Only by Peter Seaman for confirmation. Westlake No 194 refers but the latter does not differentiate between the OR and Officer patterns.

An original die-stamped brass example, with only minor signs of service wear but the key to the top of the central tower appears to have been professionally re-applied at some point.
