British Indian & Indian Army - Sikh Light Infantry Cap Badge
A cast white metal silver plated example with two original copper loops to the reverse. In good worn condition. Circa 4cms tall. Formed in 1941 and this badge also worn post Independence.
The regiment's cap badge is a chakram or quoit, with a mounted kirpan (type of knife). The insignia was designed to honour the Khalsa community's Akali Nihang ancestry.

A very fine silver plated plaid brooch for a piper of The Merchiston Castle School (Edinburgh) Officer Training Corps with a stout pin fastening. Some tarnishing and light surface marks to finish, but gorgeous. Circa 7.8cms in diameter.

Of two part construction with two original screw posts (without nuts) to the reverse an circular maker's mark bearing the maker's details "J.R.Gaunt & Son Ltd., London". Peter Brydon identifies this as the Officer's Sporran Cantle Badge (Plate 6, Fig 5 refers). Looks silver plated.

Indian Army - 1st Punjab Regiment OSD Bronzed Pagri Cap Badge, pre 1947
This cap badge is of two part riveted construction and of Indian manufacture, and has been given an officer's service dress (OSD) bronzed finish, and has an original slider (which is circa 5mm wide and 30mm long) - slider fitted for wear in the pagri of the tropical sun helmet. Badge is circa 4.2cms tall and 3,5cms wide. In very good condition. A pleasing example.
