Rare Leicestershire Yeomanry White Metal Cap Badge

A rare white metal version with two original loops (E-W) to the reverse (one twisted but still functional). It was allegedly struck for the Coronation of George V. See the following URL for details:

The Royal Gloucestershire Hussars ( Yeomanry ) Brass Cap Badge - Dowler

A good heavy die struck cap badge with original slider which is maker marked " Wm. Dowler. ( B'ham ) ". This is one of several naming styles used by Dowler. This pattern of naming is correct, earlier than most and not often encountered. Scarce.

This pattern was worn post 1908, the portcullis is surmounted by a ducal coronet (the arms of the Dukes of Beaufort).
