A genuine example with lugs removed (they were north - south) and expertly attached permanently to a brass menu ring stand which has an upright ring for holding the menu card / place setting name card. Silver bullion thread on black felt circular disk, circa 4.5cm in diameter, with hessian backing. In very good condition with some age to it.
Apparently awarded for having completed four parachute jumps but that the individual so awarded had not been called forward for operational duties. Nicknamed Light Bulb men. See Edwards & Langley No 88.
