"The Dear Dolly" Series of Postally Used Boer War Generals Original Postcards

A series of postally used postcards, all addressed to "Dear Dolly" from Harry, and all sent in 1904 from London to an Eastbourne Address. All a bit grubby and all sepia, postally used and one each for Lt-Col Baden Powell, General Sir Redvers Buller, Sir George White VC and Major General Lord Kitchener. Postally used and EDVII cancelled stamp dated 1902. Sent to a Portuguese address in Lisbon. In very good condition for age. WW1 Silk Embroidered Patriotic Postcard - Birthday Greetings

Postally unused put pencil message to reverse. French maker. Some mild foxing to front but still in its original protective envelope. Used as a birthday greetings card for a Mr W Rodman, and addressed to a Miss Mary Rodman at 44 Sheffield Road, Woodhouse, Sheffield in Yorkshire. In very good condition for age with with the flags of the Allied Nations.

An impressive large and scarce original black and white mounted photograph with names of all the officer cadets or midshipmen below including their instructors and senior officers, taken by a Cowes (Isle of Wight) photographer. A white winged figure of Victory standing before four white points (The needles of the Isle of Wight) all on a blue ground (commemorating the ports which launched the D-Day invasion). This example faces left. A small stain to reverse otherwise in very good condition. As worn from 1945 - 1948.

An embroidered red rose in a green wreath tied with a yellow bow for the Lancastrian Training Brigade (it comprised 8 regiments). Worn from 1948 - 1958. This example with a few small moth holes nibbles to buff square otherwise in good condition.

Removed from uniform, some damage to felt on bottom edge otherwise in reasonable condition. A Red Rose in a Yellow on a green background. The intertwined lines of the badge represent two borders of Scotland and Wales which formed the north and western borders of the district.
