18th (Bromley) Kent Rifle Volunteer Corps Victorian shako plate c1860
Good scarce die-stamped blackened brass crowned coiled bugle ornamented with laurel; White Horse of Kent on steel wire gauze to voided centre. Some staining from rusting of backing mesh. Loops professionally replaced with white metal pin fittings. Scarce.
18th formed at Bromley 26th March, 1860.

Victorian QVC Militia Battalions Universal Other Ranks White Metal Shako Badge
A die struck Victorian white metal other ranks shako badge with two copper loops to the reverse (likely contemporary replacements, but neatly done). It comprises the Royal Crest to the centre of a Garter Strap upon a crowned multi-rayed star plate. Circa 7.9cms tall and 6.7cms wide.

A rare, silvered, waist-belt clasp for an officer of The 5th West York Militia with matching benchmarks ( No 1). In excellent condition with some tarnishing. Raised in 1853.
In 1881, the 5th West Yorks Militia became the 3rd Militia Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment ( Green Howards ). See Hayes "The Constitutional Force" p.295).
